What is VBS?
VBS stands for Vacation
Bible School. Unlike what the name may imply, they don't actually entail your
kids sitting at a desk all day memorizing Bible verses and doing academic
stuff. These are actual CAMPS! Sunshine- and fun- filled, affordable (and
sometimes free) CAMPS! Kids participate in water sports, team sports, games,
arts and crafts, make new friends, and learn about Bible stories and songs
through colorful skits/musical productions. VBS have been enjoyable
experiences for my children and their friends. You do not have to attend their
church or any church to participate. You do not have to be Christian to attend
either.
What Does the Price
Include?
The price includes the
entire camp and materials, and usually a camp T-shirt (which they'll wear
daily) and a daily snack. Some camps have an optional Family Day or Family
Night -- an event like a big BBQ or carnival celebrating the end of camp.
What If I Have Younger
Kids Too?
If you have a
child/children in VBS, but others who are too young to participate, some camps
provide free childcare for them if you volunteer during the camp. So one
summer, I ate everything at helped run the snack table and my
younger two kids enjoyed a fun "mini camp" adventure.

below! The VBS camps below are organized by start date. Prices listed are per child, but some camps have sibling/early
bird/first-timer discounts, and needs-based scholarships. Sometimes this is on
their registration form, but if not, just ask them! Note that some
themes repeat (like Everest, which seems super popular). So yes, your child
would repeat the core program if they register for different camps with the
same theme, though the crafts, games, team sports, and community of
friends may differ. I will update this list as I find out more!
